Fourteen-year-oltl Shaun Kalos captured his f irst 125cc Pro class TransCal w in with a 1-2 score. He finished third in the series. p u lling a way. For the next th ree laps, Fow ler. O 'Donn ell , T u rner, Dirc ks and Sur ratt traded places a n umber of times before th in gs began sett ling down with Kal os leading the way, Fowler in seco nd, Dirck s third, Surra tt fourt h a nd Kurt H enricksen fifth . Surratt held the thrott le wide ope n a nd sta rted chippi ng away at Kal os' lead. Wi th two laps rema ining, Surra tt was g lued to Kalos' rea r fender. A few turns before taking th e white flag, Su rra tt jammed to the o u tside o f Ka los th ro ugh th e ca me lback sect io n and took ove r th e lead . Su rra tt went on to tak e th e win , fo llowed by Kal o s, Dircks, Arnet a nd H enricksen. Kal os took th e overa ll, but Di rcks fini sh ed seco n d overa ll a nd cli nched th e ch am pionship, seven po ints o ver Arn et. Kal o s fi n ish ed third in the series with 359, while Na ughton a n d O ' Donnell ro unded ou t the top five. T his gave seco nd to Wrigh t, who pu t th e pressur e o n Fo wler. Back in fo urth was Russ Wa gem an and Edd ie Hi cks. Fowler and Wr igh t du eled for th e lea d , wh ile Ward was mak in g up for a poor sta rt; the Ma lcolm Smi th-s ponsored rider had passed Hi cks for third by th e fifth la p . Two laps later, Ward was dogging Wrig ht for seco nd. Bu t Wr igh t the n decided to ma ke hi s m ove a nd passed Fowler u p a long, straight hill , bu t went too wide in th e follow ing tu rn , letting Fowler retake the lead . Short ly the reafter, Ward found dayl igh t a nd shot by Wright, then did th e sa me to Fowler a la p later. Ward easily won themoto and too k the overall . Wright took seco nd for seco nd overa ll, wh ile Hicks, Wagem an , O swell, Wa tmore a nd Ca hors ro unded ou t th e top seven. Cahors wra pped up the titl e with fo ur points to sp a re over Wagema n , 353-349. T h ird in th e series went to Wright (333), fo llowed by Watmore (300) and O swell (29 1). In the final m o to of the series, Zahrt cap- tured the ho lesh ot an d led for four laps before Rodrig uez thum ped by the lead er th rou gh a switch back section.
