And to top it off, the GSX R llOO is th e best- looking bi ke on the road." The company a lso cl aims th a t th e oi l-cool in g system , (a lso known as Suzuki Advanced Cool ing System , or SACS) keeps the engi ne 85 to 105° coo ler than an : q u ivalellt a ir-coo led en gine, a llows the engine to be 25% lighter th an an equivalent ai r-cooled engine, keep s the engine simpler than an eq u iva len t water-cooled en gine, and reduces oil temperature, thus ext ending o il service life . The system, using a sep arate oil pump, moves 5.3 gallons o f o il through th e engine every minute, and ha s eight jet-nozzles to bla st oil onto th e floor of the cam case, over th e ~om bustion ch ambers; sepa ra te jets shoo t oil up underneath th e piston domes. The oil is th en routed through a massive oil cooler/ radi ator and returns to th e wet sump. The new 1052.5cc GSXRllOO en gine is a scaled-up version of the GSXR750 en gine, a nd few parts are interch angeabl e. The GSXR II 00 has a bore a nd stro ke of 76x58mm (compa red to the GSXR750's 70x48.7mm ) a nd redlines a t 10,500 rpm. Externall y, th e GSXRllOO en gine isn 't much larger, weighing 179.7 pounds dr y a nd measuring 19.3 in ch es across its wid est point. The new 1100 has a close-ra tio five-sp eed transmission a nd flat -slide CV carbs, com pared to the 750's six-spe ed a nd (fla t) throttleslide ca rbs. Th ere' s an op tiona l so lo cover fo r th e rear (passenger) section of th e blue-vin yl seat. T he frame is made of ex truded box- . sect io n a lu mi n u m a lloy wi th indent- ed sidewa lls and cast aluminum alloy steering head a nd swingarm pivot mount plates, and weighs 28 pounds. Th e rear shock , operated through a Full-Floater linkage, has a remote reservoir and adj ustable damping. The front forks are equipped with a combination of anti-dive systems; compression damping in creases as fork trave l increases, and a separate so leno id system increases compressio n damping - regardless of fork co mpressio n - the in stant th e front brak es are a p p lied. The second system , .co nt ro lled by a switch in the brake-lever assem bly, acts faster than previous hydraulic-fluid-activated systems and doe sn't reduce brake feel an d increase lever trav el th e way Suzuki 's hydrau lic systems did. The 1100 is also fitted with a standard steering damper. Suzuki literature a t Par is claimed that the GSXRIIOO will come standa rd with Dunlop K700 radial tires front rear, even th ough Dunlop o fficia ls a t th e recent U.S. launch of the K700 reco m mended it s use as a rear tire onl y.
