Nicholas Rodil del Valle . the honorary president of the Federation Internationale Motocycliste (FIM). w ill preside over the November 9 Rodil Trophy Invitational Supercross in the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum . The new series is named in honor of Rodil . who retired from the FIM in 1983. Rodil, who resides in Madrid. Spain. became a permanent delegate to the FIM in 1947 and took over the presidency in 1965. a position he held for 18 years. Rodil personally negotiated the affiliation of the AMA with the FIM in 1969. Rodil will also be a guest of honor at the Motorcycle Centennial Dinner to be held November 10 at the Anaheim (California) Mariott. The celebration . hosted by the AMA with cosponsorship by the Motorcycle Industry Council and the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. will take place 100 years to the day after Gottleib Daimler successfully operated the world's first motorcycle.
