In th e first 125cclntermediate division-two moto, Davis grabbed the ho leshot followed by Pi erce (Kaw) , Phi l Butler (Kaw ) and Yamah a rider Mi chael Craig. Davi s pulled a fourseco nd lead early o n th e fir st lap, while a baule for third developed between Butl er and Craig, Craig mad e a mov e on th e inside of But ler to move int o third , while up front Davis co ntin ued to stre tch hi s lead ove r P ierce. Da vis led th e rest o f th e way a nd wa s un contested , fini shing o ver 10 seco nds ahead o f Pi erce. Craig came ac ros s in third , whi le Jeff Mab ery (Kaw) mov ed by Butl er to tak e fourth a t th e checkers. In mot o two , Kawa saki rider Ward Bassett nabbed th e holeshot fo llowed by Rob Gordon (Kaw), Davi s, J im Spotts (Ka w) and Mabery. As they rou nd ed do wn the second lap , Bassett wa s getting pressure from both Gordon and Davis, and on th e uphill strai.ght Gordon took over th e lead . - Davis a ttem p ted to go by Basset.t, but bottomed ou t harshly over a Jump and Bassett moved a head After th ree laps of hounding Bassett, Davis finall y took over secon d , bu t Gordon had pulled ahead by a bo u t five seconds. Davi s set h is sights on th e leader, and one la p lat er passed Gordon for first. The race ended with Davis in firs t, G ordon second an d Basseu third. Spotts held fourth for the entire rnoto, finish in g ahead o f Crai g , wh o nailed second overa ll a hea d o f Pi erce. Davis an d Mabery la u nch ed off th e line a t th e start o f th e first 250cc Intermedi ate division-two moto a nd raced each other to the front o f th e pack. Davi s ca me o u t with th e lead o ver Mabery with Alan Carl son (Yam) a nd Pi er ce holding down the third a nd fourth positions. Davis was a lone up front wh en he stalled his machine, losing groun d to Mabery bu t holding o n to first. Pi erce took o ver th ird wh en Carlson fell to seventh , I I seconds behind Mabery a nd Davis . At the finish the order was Davis on top over Mabery, and P ierce. Do u g Belcher grabbed th e ho le-
