Hare took the lead o n lap two , with Ma ras tica in second a head o f ha rd-cha rg ing Pat Seery (Suz). Hare kep t th e lead on lap th ree but Seery and Steinbach had demoted Ma rostica to fo urt h. Kirk Patter son wa s th e dom inating factor in both th e 250cc Int ermedi at e motos, leaving th e rest o f the pack to fight over second. J err y Lormis looked lik e a shoe-i n for th e second place slo t, but o n th e last lap, so me lap pers go t in th e wa y an th e ro lle rs and Randy Ba yless sneaked by Lormis for th e runner-up pos itio n .
