Sco tt Brown a lso co llected hi s secon d win of the series in the 80cc Ex pe rt class wi th a wi n in th e first mo ta a nd a second in th e nex t. By the end of the fir st lap , Honda rider Shaun Kalas a nd Doug O'Donnell (Kaw) had slipped into second a n d third , whi le Surratt rounded out th e top five. During th e second lap, O'Donnell crash ed and dropped to n inth, making the to p five Moore, Kalas, Naughton, Surratt and John Nelson (Han). By the fif th go-rou nd, the FMF/ AXO Sportswearsponsored Surratt was pressuring Na ugh ton , a nd it wasn't long before . Surratt made his pass. Once into third, Surratt began ree ling-in Kalas , who wa s keeping close tabs on the leader Moore. H alfway through the rna to , h ow ever , Kal as began losing distance o n Moo re, while Surratt closed in . Four laps from th e fin ish, Surra tt p assed Kal a s a nd set afte r Mo ore. With o ne lap to go, Su rratt wa s glued to Moore's rear fen der. Bu t time ran o u t for th e H onda rider a n d Moore h eld o n to wi n. Ba st ard p a ssed Naughton o n th e last la p to take third, wh il e fifth fell to Brooks, who sta rted th e m ot a in 17th. Dr ey Dir cks took six th . Su rra tt j um p ed to the early lead a t the sta rt of m o ta two , but Moore wa s close behind in second . H owever , durin g th e fir st la p , Moore fell and d ropped to 13th a nd Dircks took o ver seco nd pos ition, followed by Bro oks. Bosta rd a n d O'Donnell. Th e fir st h alf of th e race saw no lead changes, but Bro oks wa s stalking Dircks when Dircks' front wheel washed o u t in a turn . Brooks ran over hi s bike wh i le taking o ver secon d, and Dircks managed to recov er in time to claim third wi th O 'Donnell , Bastard a nd KTM -m ounted Todd Campbell close behi nd. Surratt en joyed a co m fo rt a ble lead fo r th e remainder of th e race and eas il y too k th e win ; Brooks to ok second while Dircks took thi rd , On th e last lap, Bastard a n d Cam p bell passed O 'D onnell , rounding o u t th e top five. 250cc Pro Yamaha-mounted Bill y Frank led the pack th rough th e fir st turn a t th e sta rt o f th e fir st 250cc m ot a, but H olland ov ertook th e lead a co rner later. H onda rid er G reg Zitterk o pf held third followed by J im Ell is (Yam) a nd Burnworth. O 'Ma ra had a poo r start a nd was m id pack. H olland extended h is lead w ith eve ry lap , as O'Mara p ick ed o ff rid ers o ne by o ne. By th e fift h la p , Burnworth had taken o ver fourth a nd wa s reeling-in Zitterko pf, who h e passed th ree laps la ter. Burnworth co ntin ued hi s prowl and ree led-i n Fra n k as the m ala wo re on. After p assing Ell is for fifth, O'Mara closed -in o n Zitt erk opf and passed h im going o u tside the n d ove in side o f Zitterk o p f i n a turn , By this tim e, th ere was o n ly o ne la p rema ining in th e race, wh ich is w hen Bu rn worth made.his m o ve a nd passed Fra nk for seco nd.
