A ways back in fourth was Chad Parker followed by Brya n Bru ner and Robert Naughton . At th e finish it was Turpin taking the win ah ead of Vohland. Watts and Parker. Vohland took h is third overa ll . w hi le Bru n er 's fift h place was good enough for seco nd overa ll. Goi ng for his fourth win of th e week, Voh la nd was pi nch ed off a few feet ou t of th e starting ga te, a nd that put h im near the end of th e pack a t th e sta rt o f th e 250cc Modified Pro ra ce, Watts fo u n d himself w ith th e lead followed by Ku r t Henricks en (Kaw), J eff Sta nton (Ya m ), Don Hudso n (Ka w) and Carrol R ich a rd so n (Kaw). Less th an a lap lat er . th ough , Lewis took over th e top spo t. wh il e Da le S tor beck ( Ka w) and Brown were thi rd and fourth. Lew is, who rode with hi s left wrist in a cast, ext ended his lead ov er Newman before th e Kawasaki rider fell in a turn , givi ng Storbeck and Bro wn second and third. Three la ps from the finish , Brown dov e inside Storbeck to ta ke over second. At the finish it wa s Lew is way out in fro nt followed by Bro wn and Storbeck. H owever, Brown edged Lew is by one point to take th e overall. Bro wn went on to win th e l25 cc Stock Int ermedi a te cla ss as well. Later o n in the da y, whil e co rnpe ting in th e 83cc Modified Expert cla ss, Lewi s cra sh ed a t high-speed over a sect io n o f whoops a nd severely brok e his right leg. In th e 250s, Bru nd age and Kied rowski were a ga in ba ck at it, bu t this time it was Bru ndage that took th e mot o win , even th ough Kiedrowski led a ll bu t th e la st few laps.
