Young Dan n y Stanley (Steve Bak er Ka w) conti n ue s to storm troop the 80 and I25cc classes and to night was no excep tio n as Stanley breezed to a win in the 80cc class and came back to trou nce the I25cc A ma in over Ka th y H ubble (Suz). Both Stanley and Hubble were h" rk nn I ? ~ s for th e 250cc B main event and ra n a m idst th e 250s of Todd Derrin ger and Steve McCa ul ey. Derr in ger push ed into secon d ahead of Hubble bu t behind Sta n ley, who took th e che ckers in fine style for his third win of th e even ing. Stro ng was furious and had a leng th y discussio n wi th th e track referee which did n ' t help, th en followed an open ing lap shuffle between AMA juniors Ra n dy Roose (BBR P/ Yam NW I Y am ), Steve Pru czinski (Yam) a nd A.j. Esch wig (Han). Strong sa iled pa st th e trio to tak e th e lea d a nd ho ld it for th e duration o f th e 12-lap money ma in event. Roose. Eschwig , P ruczmski and T erry Kertis (Yam ) foll owed by none co u ld make a move on th e tri cky Expert. A re-start slowed things down in th e Open Experts stagi ng for th e 12lap main even t, but once underway, Roose (H -D 560), Expert Chris Fitzh ugh (H a n 600) a nd Strong (Han 600) led th e first lap shuffle for position o n th e quarter-mile oval. The main pai d an extra $ 100 to win on a 750, bu t bo th big bore twin s were well back in th e pack a n d were never a factor. Rookie Expert Brian McGonigal (Rtx 560) and junior Ri ck Albee (H-D 560) headed u p fell o w AMA Pros Ryan Fish er (R tx 560), Mike Su ll ivan (Han) , a nd Do na ld Wil son (C-A 500). Albee made th e main via a win in th e sem i a nd foun d th e go ing ro ug h a nd sta ted , " It was just one of those ni ghts wh en I sho u ld have stayed home." By the halfway poi nt, strong had a g ood-sized lead over Roose wh ile McG onigal an d Wilson battled for th ird.
