Delacy set th e tone for hi s o vera ll victory in event two , wh en he sta rte d on th e ou tside , go t th e ga te a nd was go ne. He came back in event eig h t to ou tru n Dua ne Yarrow (Snooky Owens Weslake) for th e win, then won again in event II wh en he ran a way from the field wit h David Fa ria (Co ncord Yamaha l jawa ) taking seco nd. Delacy wrapped up th e title in event 17, wh en he ga ted from posi tion two , got to th e corner first and rode on 10 victory, with 14 points o n the nigh t. Wh ile Dela cy took co m ma nd o f th e cham p io ns h ip, a hot batt le over seco n d took place. Pat Linn (Wes) took hea t 18, a race Steve Martin (MPE Racin g/Martin Co ns truction Ja wa ) needed for second overa ll. Marti n got third, which tied h im for fourth in p oints, th en lost a ru no ff with Curry. In even t 19 Orlandi (Wes) scored his fourth win of the night to lock u p seco nd pl ace. That left third overall to Yarrow , who was sto p ped in his bid for seco nd o vera ll in th e final heat of th e ni ght wh en " Rocket Rod " Su lliva n won h is seco nd even t of th e night. Su ll ivan scored two points in hi s fir st event, th en lost a n engine in his seco nd event. H e borrowed Mick Obradovi ch 's Weslake a nd won hi s third event, th en twi sted the front end wh en' he cras hed ha rd in event 14; it was thi s th at ca used th e restart in which Curry edged Delacy. Sullivan put h is good front end on Obradovich 's bik e in time for hi s last heat which h e won, dropping Yarrow to third overall.
