Mark Dragony rook the lead riding the outside whi le j oe Leduc and Steve Crawford were side by side close to the pole. Dragon y took the white flag and continued 10 lead until Crawford turned on the gas and shot past Dragony to gain the lead as th ey rounded turn three. What was left of the main was his ra ce as he claimed his first Auburn main event of 1985. Da vid Faria, j r., by this time, had passed Dragony and Leduc for a seco nd; Dragony sett led for third. In th e Scra tch main Mike Delacy, fresh from a main event win at Ba ylands th e night before, go t an outsta nd ing ga te from the pole. jim Sisemore, riding from the number two pos ition , fell down in the first turn , en d ing hi s night. Th e threeman ran' co nt in ued wi th Delacy never less than three bikelen gths in th e lea d. Fa ria and Bart Bast co m p leted th e field in a close ra ce of th eir own; Faria managed second a t th e fin ish . It wa s Dela cy's first Auburn m ain win o f th e season. R ick Hocking claimed second , with Vance Feli cio a close third. In Di vision Three, Chris Paulson wa s very pl eased to tak e home hi s first tro phy. In the junior ma in , Bobby Hedden took qu ick action to la y down h is bike avo id ing wh at co u ld h ave been a nasty co llision with Eri c Chambers. A set of weird circumstances saw Kid Curry tak e home th e Handicap main in an accident shortened race where Mark Zeissler crashed ta king Pat Linn wi th h im . Vance Felicio and th e Prunedal e Cl u b special finally put it a ll togeth er for the firs t win in Division T hree wi th j eff Kn iss close in seco n d over Ni ck Geran io . Mik e Remine took the Divisi on T wo ma in a ll the way fro m the 30 yard lin e and will ge t a cha nce a t th e big tim e sho rt ly. Ri ck H ocking held the lin e for a few laps but Remine slipped by for th e win with Rick H icks sett ling for third over Derek Dorrestyn . In the fea tu re Match Race Kin g of the H ill , four time winner Ste ve Ma rtin me t his Wa ter loo wi th Bob Cu rry in a dandy best two of th ree show w here Martin scooted orr to a n easy first win bu t got ca ug h t at the checkered in the seco n d . In th e rubber match C urry gated badly, but Martin messed up down the back straight allowing Curry to close the gap. Going for the checkered , Ma rti n go t a tad wide and Curry ga ssed it right under him for th e n ip job. It shou ldn ' t h ave been much o f a surp rise for th e happenings in the H a n d ica p m a in a s so m e stra nge cras hi ng had appeared during th e n ight. Zeissler had nipped his wa y into th e main event wi th a pair o f th ird s in th e h ea t and sem i o n h is Fred Lewis Cons r/ Fli-Poin r/ Tearn Vooch spec ia l a n d wa s leading o n the second lap when h e lai d it down in the first turn and co llec ted a fast approa ching Linn. Faria and Kid Curry went by with Delacy alread y o u t from a first lap throw away. Out popped th e red and no restart was a llowed with Curry th e winner over Fari a a n d L inn th ird o ver j ohn Houston j r. Yarrow a nd th e Snooky Owen s Wesla ke dr ew th e pol e a nd led orr th e line in wha t look ed lik e yet a fifth straigh t Scra tch win .
