Ken Villians was leading the Senior class at check three by three points and hung on to win by one point over Alan Drafs. Villians had a Ifi-point loss to Oral's 16. . Peter Bowmen. an "exchange rider" from Hawaii. entered the C class. Peter finished but found the speeds and trails quite demanding. Pat and Merrily Farrell of Skagit Motorcycle Club, recently went to Hawaii to ride dirt bikes; here they showed Bowmen how we do it in Washington , Enthused by th e vast new area and its potential. the Mt. JUNE 22 " 42 Erik Munson took his Northern Power Sports' Suzukis to eas y wins in th e annual Summer Solstice Motocross Classic at the Goose Island track in Fa irbanks. Roskelley romps at Alaska supercross By M. R. Edge ANCHORAGE. AK. JUNE 20 The Alas ka Mo torcycle Racing Association hosted a supercross at Kincai d Pa rk and Jeff Roske lley won as he' h as all year, Roskelley enjoys the supercross races because it allows him a break fro m h is usua l schedule of racing a 125. 250 and 500. Three qualifiers were run to separate racers into either an A-main or B-main. Money is awarded for the A-main top finishers and trophies for the B-m ain . Only the top five from each qualifier make it 10 the A-main. Canyon Hansen (Yam) led qualifier one from start to end over Lance Leneave (Kaw ), Qualifier two found Suzuki Motorcycle and Marine's Jim Stewart in th e lead with Roskelley in mid-pack. With onl y four laps in each qualifier starts are cri tica l. but Roskelley had d isplaced ever yone in front of him within two laps. One more lap a nd Roskelley displaced Stewart 10 ta ke the win . Kelly Butler o n a n Anchorage Cycle Sal es ' Yamaha took the qualifier three holeshot, but wa s pa ssed o n lap three by Kevin Sch aub o n a H artley Motors ' H ond a . Suzuki Mot or cycle and Marine's J oe Godd passed Butler for seco nd on th e last lap. Schaub took th e checkered flag o ver Good and Bu tler. Edwin Sims (K aw) g ra bbed the Bmain holeshot, but by the halfway mark of the six lap event put himself ba ck with an off track exc u rsio n lea ving the o thers 10 fight for first. Larry Simmons (H a n) h eld it for a short whi le but Brad Bomhoff (Hon) got bv and took it a ll th e wav to the finish for fir st. Bryan Rambtir (Kaw) finish ed seco nd o ver Simmons with Sims end ing up in fifth . As h e had in hi s qual ifi er Kawasa ki Cycle Ca ch e's Roskell ey gated poorly during th e A-ma in a nd ended up stuck in tr affi c. Schaub held down th e number o ne spot a hea d o f Jim McCl ain o n a Cycle Corner Kawasaki . On lap three of th e 10 lap main. Roskell ey wa s a lr ead y in third and soon di spatched McClain. By now Schaub had a sizable lead but Roskelley kept CUlling it down each lap until on lap eig h t wh en he ca ug h t up to Schaub. Schaub kept looking behind and eventua lly suc cu m bed to the pressure m aking a sma ll mistake which was a ll Roskelley needed to p ass for fir st a nd the A-main win. • Results 60 NOV: 1.
