View Racewa y's Mother's Da y MX, as he spe n t a rain -th reat en ed da y of raein~ holding back rival s Bobby Stein e-r (Kaw) an d C liff T heisen (Ha n). In the Open B cla ss, T ony Cabod i (Yam) took hom e th e go ld after sp litti ng m o ro wi ns with Dave Cot ter (Han ). wh o fini shed seco nd overa ll. When the first 125cc Crace left th e I in e, G ravell e ra n wi th th e lead. with Theisen a n d S teiner in hal p u rs u it, and in no time the trio ki t th e pack behind as th ey mot o red aro u nd th e tra ck . T heisen moved in to seco nd on la p two a nd held it for a bout half of th e 10 la ps befo re Ste iner go t around h im aga in . T here was no room for even th e sma llest error as Stei ner wailed fo r Gra velle to bobble, but he h ad 10 seu le for seco nd at th e fin ish . Th eisen wa s thi rd . As th ey took off for th e second mot o , Gravell e a nd Steiner were in front agai n. wh ile Cha rles Nel son ( Ka w), Kevin Wall ace (H a n )a nd Tim McCrary (Cag) led T h eisen . Things soon began 10 heat up as G ra vell e and Steine r put o n a show th ai wa s a s exriting'as a ny Pro race for th e en tire mal a. At th e flag , Gravell e took a narrow win with Steine r's fron t wheel beside hi s Ie~ as it had been several limes during th e race. Wa lla ce was third and Theisen came in fourth . Corter It'd all th e way in th e first Open B class race. Patrick Jordan (LDAM Enterprise Han) and Tom Viell e (Cha mp io n of Oregon Han ) battled for th e second sp o t. BUI halfwa y through the mota, Vielle dropped off th e pa ce and Cabodi (Town Center Yam ) passed for third.
