This election has received virtually no media coverage because incu m- This is to in form everyone not to purchase any Tamm Racing Products d irect from T amm in Nevada. In February I ordered a pair of Team Tamm race pants with a money order. I waited six week s a nd when I hadn 't received them I ca lled to inquire 01:1 the order. I was told to ca ll back. Then . I was told they would call back. Now their phone is di~onnected and: I find out from th eir East Coast distributor th ey have filed for bankruptcy. I am not saying not to buy any reinaining stock of Tamm products from your local dealer or reputable .distributor, though. They are vicums just lik e the rest of us . . My main concern is not the busi ness dealings of Bob and JulieTamm or the fact that a lot of people. who thought they wer e su p portin g the sport of motocross. lost money; but the effect th is will have on any future non-factory race teams. Stuart Statler 's proposed ban and recall o f a ll form s o f ATVs is a very drastic me asure, and it is one th at definitely needs reconsideration. Wh y is it th at if C?re activity has a cert a in amount o f risk to It. It IS considered to be th e fault o f th e ignorant user . I'm referring to boating accidents a nd th e use of boats by uned uca ted people? Yet . a t lh e. ~a~e time, a nothe r form of n sk y ac ti vity IS co ns idered to be in herently dangero us, a nd a tot al recall is th e only solution to the problem of injuries. The problem here is knowledge of a p articular activity, a nd t~ e. fact th~ f a great majority of th e mjunes In ATV rei a led accidents ca n be avoided if th e " ignora nt" were educated. Would yo u a llow just any person to drive an automobile on th e streets without the proper ed uca tion . o r not being of a certain age? Of course notl Would yo u allow a person 10drive a ca r if they were only 10 yea rs of age. or if a person were so intoxicated that they couldn't th ink clearly? Nol Yet these same th ings occur all the time w ith ATVs because people are not educated in th e proper use of offroad vehicles. An honest con sidera tion of the problem is all th at we ask. Don't let the few ding-a-lings that have no regard for life destroy it for the rest of us. 'If an action is to be taken . then find a way to weed out those who are abusers. and let th e rest of us be conscientious users. ROBERT EVANS Salt Lake City. UT (Continued to page 38 )
