Manley go t the hol esh ot in th e seco nd moto, and he was followed by T im Rutherford (Kaw) and Rob T rone (Hon). Hicks got a fourth pl ace star t and passed Trone o n the thi rd lap. Beier, who sta rted o u t of th e top five. worked his way up to th e Iron trunners. By th e third lap , Beier worked his way into fourth p lace a nd was trailing H icks. H icks then went do wn on the last la p . lea ving Beier in third. Beier quickly passed Ru th erfor d to ta ke over seco nd, but did n 't have a ny time to catch Ma n ley . Wh en the checke rs came out Manley won the overall. wit h Beier second. Ru therford was th ird , bu t third overall went to Trone. In the first 250cc Jun ior moto, Dennis Cha fe (Yam ) led . followed by Kirkley (Hon ) an d J erry Becker (SUl ). On the first lap Chafe went do wn lea vin g th e lead to Kirkley, who too k comma nd of the moto to the finis h. Kirk ley was first, foll o wed by Becker and Je ff Mi nder ho ut (Yam ). In th e second moto Kirkl ey agai n led , follow ed by Aaron Wood (Hon) and Becker. Kirkley p ulled a quick lead ove r th e pack a nd was ne ver cha llenged a fter that. On th e last lap, Becker passed Wood to take over second place, and Mitch G riffin (Yam) made hi s wa y up from fifth pl ace to thi rd . Th e fini sh and ove ra ll positions were Kirkel y, fir st.
