King takes Kingdome speedway win By Bruce Scholten SEATfLE, WA, MAR . 30 Speedway racing was included as part of (he " Sh o wdown '85 " program in th e Seattle Kingdome. The exh ibi tio n event BASS TICKETS featu red many of the top so u the rn California racin g sta rs, including defending National Speedway Champion Kell y Moran , La nce Kin g, Dubb Ferrell a nd Mike Faria. But it wa s Kin g who ca me o u t o n top wh en Ferrell a nd J im Lawso n tangl ed in a turn in the ma in , letting Kin g sli de by for the checkered nag. Ferrell was second fo r th e ni ght, Far ia was th ird , and Lawson was fourt h . The fas test heat of the ex hi bition featured Farrell and Fa ria , wit h Farrell winn in g. Those who d idn 't ma ke it pas t the hea t race stage into the main included Ton y Briggs. Tim McCa sland and Mora n. On th e starting line of the main were Farrell. Lawson, Faria a nd King. Wh en everybody got off the lin e. Kin g was last. bu t by th e end of the first la p King was lead ing , with Lawson second and Ferrell third. Fa ria was in fo urth. La p three saw Ferrell pa ss Lawson and Kin g 10 take the lead , a nd everybod y's positions held for th e next two laps. On lap five, Ferrell was still leadin g and j us t to the ins ide o f Lawson. But th e rosi n-coated concrete trac k was so tacky th at it was d ifficult ' for Ferrell to h old a lin e in th e corners.
