MAR . 30 Former 500cc W orld MX Cha m p io n Brad L ackey showed up today to race in the Vet Exper t class a nd completely dominated it as h e rode flaw les sly to a I -I to ta l for the class w in . The for mer cha mp's pe rformance was j list o ne o f the highl ig hts of th e weekend as the Prairie City OHV Pa rk race 36 tr ack hos ted a mateur da y o n th e same co u rse tha t wo u ld run th e a n n ua l H a ng to wn N at iona l MX. In th e 250cc Expert class. Kell y Andris (Han ) took a co m ma nding lea d bo th times o u t to ca p t u re th e overa ll. And in th e 500cc juniors. Wa yn e R eg i na (Han ) used a 2-1 score 10 narrowl y beat Ken n y WOOIOll'S 1-3 to top th a t class. T he 250cc Novice class was won by Don McG ra th (Ka w ). As the \' et Experts roa red o ff th e line in th eir first m o to , it was Lack ey (Ya m) . followed by Kin ney jones (Han) a nd j o h n Swa n n (Han). Lackey qu ickl y put severa l secon ds between h im self a nd jones. a nd th e lead g rew ever y lap. By th e th ir d la p Swann had dropped back . and Dave Ea ken (Han) to ok over th e thi rd pl ace slot. At the fin ish. Lackey was way o u t in fro nt. with an ove rwhelmi ng lead over j ones and Ea ken . who p laced second a nd th ird . M oto two was a ca r bo n -copy o f the fir st. Lack ey got the h o leshot th en was passed for a brief time by Eak en . whil e j ones tr ailed in th ird. Ea ken was sti ll successfu l in h o lding o ff Lackey as they went up an uphill . but th e former Wo rl d Champion claimed th e lead at th e double-jumps. A lap later, Ea ke n was kn oc ked down into ' third p lace a t the doubles when j ones to ok th e opportunity 10 pass. T ow a rd s th e en d o f the m or o , Lackey had bu ilt up a 20-second lead o ver j on es. Lackey was n ot o n ly the wi n ner. but the cro wd favorite as well; j ones' 4-3 scor e made him second o ver all . while j .P . Morgan ( K a w) snuck bv Ea ke n a t th e last mom en t for th ird a nd th ird overa ll. Audris nabbed th e ho les hot in th e first 250cc Expert m oto . and by th e fo u r t h turn he a lread y had a five second lead on second place rider M ichael P reSIOn ( Kaw) : Mark Everet t (K aw) was t hi rd a nd G eorge Hoppel' (H a n) was fourt h . Wh en Evereu failed to clear the doubles. H o p pee passed him in m id-a ir to take third . Hopper then went 10 wo r k on a fading P resto n 10 event ua ll y claim seco nd place. At this p o int in th e ra ce, Andris had de velo ped a 20-second lead o n the rest o f the p ack . ., Kawasaki- m o un t ed D on McGrath posted 1 - 1 moto scores o n his way to the 250cc N o vi ce class victo ry.
