Ward, riding with a broken wrist, won both rnotos afte r battling his way into th e lead ea ch lime OUl. Dave Graff (Gradon/Hon )shot into the lead at the start of the first mot o with Chris Fleming (Han) , Sunwest's Mark Decker, Don Griewe (Moto-Fox/Kaw), and Ward (Ma lco lm Smith Racing/Yam ) chasing. A sma ll erro r by Fleming allowed Decker 10 get by on the fir st lap, an d Ward passed Griewe, then look third from Fleming on the next go-'round. By lap three Graff led and Decker a nd Ward were righl o n hi s tail , while Griewe moved by a slo wi ng Fleming.
