Hall, Jamison, Aicher jam at AlbanySX By Clay Light i\LBANY, O R, JAN. 6 Eric Hall ran away with four Pro rnotos at Albany Speedway duri ng the AMA District 28 supercross despite arctic-like .. 24 . temperatures. Hall demolished the 250cc and l25cc Pro classes, while J ody Jamison took his Kawasaki into the wi nners circle in the 250cc B class with a 2-2, and consistent J erry Aicher piloted his Yamaha of Salem YZ into first in the I25cc class with a 1-2. Twenty-three riders lined up for the I25cc class, wh ich wa s th e largest class or the day. Aic her topped the first rnoto but was well back a t the start or the second moto. Keith Burke (Kaw) pulled the most incredib le holeshot o r the day but only led unti l tum one when he unloaded in the loamy sand. Bu rk e was in last when h e booted his KX to life but made a very spirited ride and came from 22nd to sixth in three laps. Aicher p icked orr riders as well and trailed Ed Jansen (Hon) for the entire moto and look second at the nag. He nabbed Ih e overall with a 1"2 over Jensen (4I) and Dennis McConnell (Kaw). who went 3-3. Burke came from last 10 finish fourth. Pro classes finalized the day's program , and all on hand got to witness superb riding by Hall on his Silko- _ len e/Beaverton Hon/Scol!/Marushin H onda CR ·s. Hall's first task was topping a 125cc Pro/Intermediate cla ss. The Camas, Wa shington , res ident lotally devoured th e co m pe tition consisting or Pro ri~"3ls Ri ck Gunderson (Ya m) and Honda pilot Keith Foidel. Ha IIa Iso easi Iy breezed to th e second moto win for th e first I-I tally over Gunderson 's 2-2. Honda rider Kun Rog stad t looked sim ilar in sty le to Hall but couldn't match th e spelod. coming up with a I- I in the Intermediates to best Bill Kent 's 2-4 and SCOl! Adair's (Hon) 4-3. Hall b lew away the last motos of the day, which were the 250cc Open Pro outings. Hall beat John Woodley (Hon) in molO one with Dave Fox (Yam), Grayson Hart (C-A/500) and Richard Earle (Hon/500) in the top rive . The second timeout was also all Hall 's. Fox was to be his closest co m- petition a quarter lap down , while Woodley ran third ahead or the spectacular dice between Open riders Earle and Han. The year-end rains had left the Dunes with a deep soak a nd n o dust . Even th e Pee Wecs zinged a ro und th e cou rse on th eir SOce ma ch ines with no problems. Ri ght behind him in both motos wa s first Intermediatc Robby H a mmond, giving th e Yarnahas some unaccustomed com petitio n on hi s Ital jet. Expert Sean Blanchard won both molOs in th e 80cc class, ta king a n immediatc lead in th e fir st a nd cru is· ing ror thc win. MOIO IWO wa s more ten se; Paul Vlach pulled a n icc hol esho t and led the first lap. Blanch a rd got the top spot on lap two, but Vlach dropped right into his shado w and stayed there ror two laps. Vla ch reall y gassed it going into th e wash at th e beginning of lap five and momen tarily regained the lead. In the second moto, Ricks took th e lead from th e sta rt . DeBaca started ba ck in fourth , and managed 10 finish a close, but undeniable second 10 give Ricks a perfect score for th e day. The 125cc Intermediate class was dominated by· Tommy Collier, riding for T eam Creen /Team Tamm. Two beautiful holeshots a nd runaway tim es gave Collier the number o ne spot at th e end of th e da y. The o n ly in teru p tio n was a slight miscalculation in th e stad iu m jumps. Collier had such a lead that John Lowrey and Steve Hill, running second and third, could still only catch up but not manage 10 pass him. Aft er a few m oments to regain his co m posu re Collier began pulling awa y once aga in . Lowrey cr ashed a n d Hill finished second.
