Full-sized riders came LO race on pint-sized bikes, including Jimmy Weinert, Kenny Zahrt and Mike Faria. Mike Laney, Tim Melancon and Earl Roloff diced for the lead in the 500cc Amateur 'IT at395 Cycle Park. Laney first led, followed by Roloff, who grabbed the lead a couple laps later. Laney came back to win it; Melancon was third. In the Open Amateur! Experts Roloff (Nor) was the winner, ahead of Lyle Moore (Yam) and Ron Powell (Tri). Winner of the IOOcc juniors at Corona Raceway's R.A.C.E. night MX was Brian Myerscough (Yam). At the SRAI D-37 'IT at Elsinore Raceway, Novice Wayne Rainey (Hon) took the combined 125cc Novice!Amateurs, ahead of Amateur Steve Woskoski (Yam) and Novice G,wdie Kidd {Yam).• A Couple of Rookies Keith was also selected as the Supercross Rookie of the Year.
