Amendola, Mesechertie CRC Gringo enduro By Bill Herndon RED MOUNTAIN, CA, NOV. II The California Racing Club had bad enough land-use problems in Mexico last August to cancel the Gringo enduro there. But that didn't mean reincarnation or the Gringo enduro wasn't rorthcoming. Sunday morning dawned clear and cool - perreet racing weather. The rirst loop started near Trona Road and headed north through the beginning of more virgin territory than any regulars could remember. That also meant lots or hard left/right turns through less than handlebarwide handslapping bushes, and an abundance or sort and rocky soil. Last month's extremely popular lemonade stand came right after the 24 mph £irstloop special test, with a rour-mile reset at8.8 miles out. This time, however, both came too early in the event ror most riders to utilize heavy duty refreshment. Some or the rirst loop terrain - including a norun approach, fan-the-c1utch-type, sandy uphill - gave many ramily riders rits. What made everythingallthe more surprising was thatan 80ccrider won the £irst loop overall! While point leader SCOll Jacobsen went to the 200cc B-16 class. (former) Minimentor Mike Chamberlain Jr. not only won by two minutes. but he swept the overall rirstloop honors at 3.91.dropped. First rull-size bike in was St:Oll Daw, at 5.114 and rirst Open C-16. Despite a soil sample, Barbender Darnell Gustarson rode her Husky back up to first B Women at 9.250 dropped. Dan Hapner literally bushwhacked his way to rirst B Mini, at 12.160, followed closely by rirst C Mini Chris Salum at 12.208. .Ief( Courts was next and rirst ATV. At 12.232, he literally smoked his class winning by 33 minutes! Dianne Olsen beat Birgit Hudson to the C Women win at 32.382 dropped. . Results AA: 1. Rcbb Me_r: 2. Kurt Butler; 3.
