Jamison, King claim Albany SX By Action Aud ALBANY, OR, OCT. 21 J ody "Holeshot" Jamison combined a 1-2 score to take the overall win in the 125cc Intermediate class at Albany's supercross racing this week. Randy King did the deed in the 125cc Juniors, sweeping'both motos along the way. One of the best races of the day was the first moto for the 125cc Intermediates. Jamison (Kaw) took the lead off the start, followed closely by O'NeaI/Simpson/Oakley-sponsored Paul Winn. Winn and Honda rider Ron Robinson collided, putting Winn down a lap, and allowing Jamison to power on to the win. The second moto had Winn taking the early lead, followed by Jamison and Robinson. Winn continued to pull away, and at the finish had a 24second lead over Jamison. Robinson pulled in third. The 125ccJuniors got off to a good start with Jerry Aicher taking .the holeshot. He was trailed by Randy "Madman" King on his Yamaha, and KTM rider Ron Hall. Chad Bolte got off to a slow start, but charged hard for the entire moto, to end up second behind King. Sean Riesterer finished third. Bolte was first off the line in moto two; this time King was second. As the race progressed, King made his move to pass Bolte for first, then he went down in the back section, giving the lead back to Bolte. King recovered to put the pressure on Bolte, then Bolte crashed in the same turn that earlier claimed King. King. rode on toa I-I overall victory, with Bolte going 2-2 fOF second, ah.ead of Aicher. Motocross mud wrestling at Baylands By Mike Vancil FREMONT, CA, OCT. 10 Rain made for interesting racing and difficult scoring at this Wednesday-night Continental Motosport Club motocross at Baylands Raceway Park. Carlos Saavedra (Kaw) showed the l25cc Novice class riders that he knew how to handle worsening conditions as he carefull y maneu vered' past fallen riders and downed machines. Carlos kept everything pointed the right direction for the win over Ricky ·White. another Kawasaki rider. Too bad Saavedra's first-moto performance wasn't better as his 6-1 evening earned him a third place. White was more consistent at 1-2 and he took the overall. . In the 80cc Mini classes it was all D.]. Noe on his Yamaha in the Novice class. The Juniors put on a battle involving Shawn Robertson (Kaw), Christopher McCallie and Rhett Fothergill (Kaw). Early leader Mc Callie kept it on its wheels, unlike in practice, but nonetheless faded to the pressures of Fothergill and Robertson. When the rain started falling, the Minis were slip-sliding all over the place. Fothergill came in very carefully for first and the overall, McCallie had to follow Richard Graham, Concord Yamaha, in for third but was able Lo achieve a second overall. The 250cc Pros had a three-way battle for the lead consisting of Bin Avery, (Dublin Kawasaki), Tony Richards (San..Jose Kawasaki) and .John Dauth on a Honda. In both motos the early leader was Richards. On several occasions Avery would gf't by Dauth only toslideoutorfall. At about midevent Dauth used a wide, square-off approach to the high-jump and took the lead away from Richards. They finished Dauth, Richards and Avery. In the second mota, Richards again took the early lead but surrendered it to Dauth. Avery passed Richards and fell off again - got up, and got going. Once into a challenging position, he fell again. Dauth collected the overall. • Results BO NOV: 1. D.J. Noe (Vam). BO JR: 1. Rhell Fothergill (Kaw); 2. Christopher McCallie (Vam). 125 NOV: 1. Ricky White (Kaw); 2. Torry Ormond (Han); 3.
