Shoulder pads - there are so many to choose
from and so much to take into consideration
when trying to decide which one is best for
you. These days, most shoulder pads are
older-style shoulder pads. The suspension system absorbs th.e impactin
a fall; the others do not. Instead, the
older models only protect the rider
from cuts and scrapes and do nothing
to help eliminate the possibilities of
shoulder separations or broken collarbones.

pads do all of these quite well, so we
narrowed down the field to the four
most popular shoulder pads available
to date: JT's V-2000, Moto-X Fox's
Roost-D-Flector, Hallman's Pro Armorand the Hannah Racing Products
(HRP) Flak Jak II. JT will be releasing their new, three-wheeler-minded
V-3 and V-4 soon.
These four shoulder pads are the
most proteciive models made. and all
offer excellent cooling through vents
in the plastic panels. Each pad system features some sort of suspension
shoulder cup design and impact-absorbing fron t and back plastic shields.
In other words,neither the shoulder
cups nor front and hack shields rest
directly on the rider's body, unlike
HRP's Flak Jak II.
