By the end of the first lap, Hicks gained about three seconds on Pascarella, who was determined to keep Hicks within reach. As the molO progressed, Pascarella managed to keep the leader in sight, while Kalos found a way around Blanchard. For the rest of the e.ight-Iap race, th"e distance between Hicks and Pascarella remained the -same: Hicks' took the molO win ahead of Pascarella, Kalos, Blanchard and Honda rider Ty Davis. Kawasaki rider Shane Triuler slOle the second-molO holeshot while Hicks closely followed. However, Triuler's lead was cut short when Hicks shot by during the first lap. A few turns later, Kalos also slipped past Triuler to take over second. By the end of the second lap, Hicks enjoyed a comfortable lead over Kalos, who had a relatively safe distance over Kawasaki rider Scou Chesser; a few turns earlier, Chesser had snuck past Triuler. .Pascarella had a poor start but was moving his way up through the pack quickly. By the fourth lap, Pascarella had worked his way into third but was still a few seconds behind Kalos. For the rest of the molO, positions remained the same. Hicks won, while Kalos, Pascarella, Triul.er and Chesser followed. 125cc Pro O'Mara wasted no time getting into the lead at the start of the first 125cc moto: He captured the holeshot while Honda rider Erik Kehoe, Yamaha pilot Dennis Daft and Honda's Larry Brooks pursued. One rider who was on the move was Honda rider JeH Frisz. Frisz had a poor start, but made up for it by climbing his way up through the pack. After five laps, Frisz moved into fifth but was far behind McCoy. As the race progressed, Frisz reeled in McCoy and stayed glued to his rear fender. On the final lap, Frisz made his move and passed McCoy for fourth. 0' Mara won ahead of Kehoe, Brooks, Frisz and McCoy. The second molO saw Kehoe grab the holeshot with O'Mara closely behind. However, during the first lap O' Mara crashed. "I was going through one of the sandy turns in the back," said O'Mara, "and my froot wheel started to push and I washed out. I got back going right away somewhere within the top 10." Actually, O'Mara was eighth a few turns later, while Kehoe took control of the lead with Brooks running a close second. In third was Suzuki R&D rider Mike Healey, who was ahead of Chad Parker (Kaw) and Billy Frank. While Kehoe and Brooks were hounding each other for the lead, O'Mara was busy making up for lost ground. By the fifth lap, O'Mara had taken over third and was closing in on Brooks. A lap later, O'Mara was breathing heavily down Brooks' back, and the O'Show eventually passed Brooks, and Kehoe shortly after. Once into the lead, O'Mara stretched his lead to a few seconds over Kehoe. Yamaha rider Tyson Vohland worked his way into fourth while Frisz moved into fifth. At the finish it wasO'Mara. Wright tried to stay close but Eaton pulled away. Soon after, Wright had Yamaha rider Russ Wageman close in. Wright managed to hold Wageman back for three laps before geuing passed. Then Pederson put heavy pressure on Wright. Meanwhile, O'Mara cruised way out in from, while Eaton held firm control of second. However, with two laps remaining; Eaton dropped out of the race with mechanical problems. This gave Wageman second with Wright, Pederson and Husqvarna's Micky Dymond close behind.
