dropped them to fifth and sixth respectively. Kawasaki-mounted Daryn Walls was running a strong third while Curtis Clark (Suz) trailed in fourth. Burdette passed Church towards the end of lap three, and slowly pulled away with his constantly fast lap times that carried him past more than one 250cc Pro. Walls snuck by Church mid-race, and a crash on the second-to-Iast lap put Church fourth behind Clark, making the order Burdette, Walls, Clark and Church. Church pulled off another holeshot in the second moto, but this time Burdette was right on his tail and stole the lead before the first lap wa completed. Cates was nearly dead last off the line, but flew through traffic to run a strong thi rd by the end of the second lap. Walls went down on lap five and ended up pulling off the track a few lap from the fini h. Burdette rode 10 very consistent laps before he crashed somewhere in the back section and came around in fourth. This put Church in the lead for a brief moment before Cates took the lead and held on to the finish. Church rolled through second, Clark third, and Burdette was fourth in front of Rogers. Burdette's 1-4 was first over Cates' 5-1, while Church's 4-2 edged out Clark's 3-3. Honda-mounted Mike Michetti smoked the 250cc Beginners each time out. John Singletary gave it his all, but the 4' II" 13-year-old kept the throttle on his CR250 nailed and left Singletary in a fl ury of roost. Mike Casey landed third over' Howard Keeling (Yam). After two convincing wins tonight, Racing Association of Cycle Enthusiasts officials have transferred him to Intermediate. Thomas, aboard a Honda, grabbed the holeshot in moto one, while Yamaha-mounted Mike Logan followed in his tracks. The'two stayed close and began to pull away on the final lap, leaving Open Beginner winner Geoff Wood (Yam), Daniel Cukar (Suz), and S.E. Racing's Toby Henderson (Hon) to fight for second. Logan passed Thomas on lap two, but Thomas regained the lead on the next lap and then put some distance on the Yamaha pilot. The battle for third raged on, with Wood holding back Cukar and Henderson. With two laps remaining Henderson took control of third a few seconds clear of Cukar. Wood dropped way back, yet still was the first Beginner to cross the finish line. Logan dropped way back on the final lap, giving Thomas a safe win. Henderson was third, finishing well ahead of Cukar. At the start of the second moto Thomas again got the holeshot, this time followed by Bill Mahoney (Hon) and Henderson. Henderson took the first jump on the course a litLle too fast, flew too far, swapped and then crashed. Logan passed Mahoney on the first lap to Lake over second, but Thomas was already a few seconds ahead of the pack. Wood was in third, and a lap later was being challenged by a pair of Honda thumpers ridden by Mark Darnell and Henderson. There was no stopping Thomas as he held a comfortable lead at the halfway mark. Logan seemed to be a safe second, but Henderson was charging after his crash and slowly whittled away the gap. Henderson fi.nally caught the Yamaha pilot on the fifth lap, and on the next go'round Darnell breezed by as well. Heading into the final lap Thomas slid out exiting turn one, allowing Henderson to close to within five bikelengths. Henderson applied the heat in the final turns, but Thomas kept his cool to Lake the win. Henderson's 3-2 earned him second overall, while Logan finished the moto in fourth to take third overall.
