The street version makes a claimed 101 bhp atll 000 rpm and 48 lb.-flo of torque at LOOOO rpm. The new engine's bore and stroke are 70 x 48.7mm; compression ratio is 9.8: I. A bank of four flat-slide 29mm Mikuni carburetors are fed by a large still airbox mounted under the hollow rearof the Formula One-style gas tank. There's a six-speed transmission and a full faiTing with dual headlights. Both wheels are 18-inch and wheelbase is 56 inches. fn developing the new machine, Suzuki has paid much attention to keeping weight down, usinganaluminum alloy frame and light running gear to achieve the incredibly-low claimed dry weight of 388 pounds. Then there's Suzuki's new readyto-race endurance bike fitted with a modified, 134-bhp engine in an aluminum frame with quick-change Campagnolo magnesium wheels, quick-release four-piston Brembo magnesium calipers, floating 12.6inch front discs, dual headlights in a quick-release full fairing, and combination taillights and side number plate marker lights mounted on the tail section. The engine kit includes a ported cylinder head, titanium valves and valve springs, a dry clutch, racing pistons, magnesium clutch case cover, aluminum carburetors, polished connecting rods, six-speed close-ratio transmission, racing camshafts, a selection of sprockets, and a hand'bent stainless steel four-into-one exhaust system with an aluminum silencer. Former works rider and now racingdevelopmentengineer Mitsuo Itoh says Suzuki foresees "a great force of private entrants riding to future victories with the advanced technical superiority of the new GSXR 750 now that we are returning the benefit of oiJr'racihg experience'to'the public. '. The new GSXR750 engine: note idler wheel for cam chain, between cams; short, dense finning on cylinders, head and valve cover; primary gear machined into plain-bearing-crankshaft's flywheel; four-valves-per-cyli'nder TSCC combustion chamber; close-ratio, six-speed transmission and drilled countershaft cover. ,23
