Team Hondds Fred Merkel clinches
Superbike title at Mid-Ohio.
It was a super year for our superbike ace,
Flyin' Fred Merkel.
H~ flew circles around the competition
all season, winnihg nine out of 12 races.
The clincher came at Mid-Ohio, where
Fred settled into the cockpit of his Honda 750
Interceptor'" and hit the afterburners.
By the time he landed, Flyin' Fred had a
new heat record, new average-speed race
