championships: Bike problems prevented Langford, Kawasaki's sixth-ranked Mini rider, from competing in the 80cc Modified-15 class, and a possible fourth crown. Langford gated in front of both 80cc Stock moLOS and LOured the home turf for wire-to-wire runs. Team Rase Kawasaki rider Jason Schultz secured second on both tries ahead of Stephen "Shorty" Jones (Kaw) and Honda of Tulsa's Scotty Matthews. Langford went LO work on the 85cc Pro-15 contenders, leading all but one lap and shutting out Kawasaki MOLOrs' Dave Shade. and Danny Pattison (Kaw). Ricks was fourth, his poorest showing.of a dozen moLOS on the day. Lan~ord lunged LO the head of the I05cc class ahead of Dale Storbeck, Justin Otto, Dane Hillery (Kaw), and Trey Owens. Langford led through four laps, then SLOrbeck zapped him on the fifth. At the nag Storbeck was followed by Langford, Oteo, Hillery and Owens. Langford left little doubt in the second meeting, taking the lead with staying power throughout. Otto was a£ter Langford for two laps and then Storbeck got by him and gave chase. Langford claimed the championship when the checkers came out, with Storbeck, Otto, Hillery, Owens and Rich Waring trailing. In the Pro support serie Dennis Daft pocketed big bucks with the Iion's share of the 250cc Ex pert purse along with runner-up cash from the I25cc Pro pot. Honda-handed Bryan Abernathy and Daft were 1-2 all the way in the first 250cc moLO. Roger Schellenburg (Yam) was third until he began slipping LOward seventh on lap four. Louisiana's Rusty Pipes (Kaw) finished in thirdin front of Jerry Surber Jr. (Hon) and the Team Tamm Kawasaki of Mike Bray. Daft dazzled in the second moLO from start to finish. Abernathy worked around Bray into second but wa gone the next lap with mechanical woes. Second finally went LO Surber when he beat Bray on the last Lap. Dunfee, Michael Clement (Yam) and Pipes were fourth through sixth. Daft combined a third-place firstmoLO effort with a second-moLO vicLOry to finish second overall to I 25cc Pro champ Kit Vick. Vick took his Kawasaki Motors mount eo an impressive 1-2 showing. Billy Whitley (Kaw) was fourth in both ses ions to earn third.
