The basic kit consists of slide needles, needle clips, pilOl jets and a seleClion of main jets and sells for $79 in a box, $125 installed if a customer brings in a complete motorcycle, and $104 installed if a customer brings in a set of carbs already off lhe mOLOreyc1e. The kit is designed to be used with K8cN fabric air filters, which cost an extra 52. To test Cordona's kit, we laidouta 250-foot acceleration run up a steep street - the grade measured 22%. A rider approached.the test seClion at40 mph (about 2500 rpm) in third gear and snapped the throllie open at the stan of lhe section. The bike reached about 60 mph (3800 rpm) at the end of the section, and the time needed LO accelerate through the seClion was timed with a sLOpwatch. The bike we used was a 1984 Suzuki GS 1150, sLOck except for lhe installation of a Bassani sueet pipe. Before installing Cordona's kit, the bike took 3.2 seconds to accelerate lhrough the test section. After installation of Cordona's kit at roadside - it took Cordona about 30 minutes to finish the job as we watched - the bike accelerated through the test section in 2.9 seconds; that's an improvement of 0.3 seconds. Just as convincing was lhe motorcycle's performance on the street after installation of the kit. Surging was eliminated and vibration reduced.
