(333/34) In response to last week's din track tire story, Carlisle's john Yaw said that the company is not making compound changes in their racing tires beca use there is not enough time left in the season for proper testing and development. "It's not as simple assaying, 'We'regonna make a harder tire', it takes time - mixing compounds and chemicals - it's as difficult as blending new oils or fuels." Yaw said, "Street tires are not out of the question. We're not real convinced Teddy's (Ted Boody's) tire was right off the showroom rack, though." The Cicero Mile, in which the Expert main was shortened to 16 laps, is not the first case of a shortened race.
