McL.eod runs away at CRC Perris GP By Terry Rezek PERRIS, CA, AUG. 19 As the California Racing Club held its GP event at Perris Raceway, the 80cc event gave some of the big kids a chance to , . 38.. play too. Bill Eisenecher and Dave Miller took of£ together from the start and put on a real show. Both were considerably older than the usual Mini racers and Miller is so tall he looked like he was riding a roller skate. Eisenecher led lO the second lap when MiJler stepped imo first and moved away fast. A few more laps later Miller had some problems and pulled imo the pits. Elsenecher dashed by for the lead. and Miller re-emered about a half lap back and put on a comeback ride that was not to be equalled that day. Miller's Yamaha was clearly the fastest bike on the track and he caught Eisenecher on the last lap and passed in a good maneuver to take the win. Although those two took the first two overall positions, they were riding as Experts and did not af£ect the great battle that was going on for third overall between Novice Dunn Voyer and Imermediate Jef£ David. Barbacovi owns CRCnightMX By Lee Taylor VALENCIA, CA, AUG. 10 Van Nuys Cycle Yamaha rider Jeff Barbacovi turned in an impressive performance in the California Racing Club's Friday-nig-ht motocross at Indian Dunes. Racing in a mixed class of 125cc Intermediates and Pros, Barbacovi not only won the Intermediate class, but bested all the Pros as well, both times oul. Barbacovi's toughest competition came from another Intermediate, Team Tamm-sponsored Ray Groom, but Groom had to seule for a pair of seconds. Alan Pierce (Kaw) took third with a 4-3 performance. Charlie Burgess, a recem graduate of one of Donnie Hansen's MX schools, .showed the results of higher education by taking his Kawasaki into baule in the 80cc Stock Beginner class. In the first moto Kawasaki rider Dean Dill led it to the finish with Yamaha pilot Curt Crosby second over Burgess. In the second molO Shane Scarpiello (Kaw), Duane Benner (Hon) and Billy Dawson (Kaw), runnmg 12-3 in the early stages of the race. Burgess began in fourth, but before the moto was over, had passed the three in from of him to win the moto. He also took the overall win, and Crosby was second with a 2-6. Results PEE WEE INT: 1.
