AMA Junior Tony Cruickshank (Hon) toped the 250cc Experts' heat race but was upended in the main by the man that has controlled the class all season - Rusty Yamamoto (Yam). Mike Hayman (Yam) and Cruickshank led the final around the long l'-mile track and swapped positions in their quest for first-place payoff. Yamamoto and Hayman hooked their Yamahas into the 1-2 places., while Cruickshank and Novices Rodney Ginn (Hon) and Tracy Collins (Yam) were in hot pursuit. Yamamoto held off the advances of Hayman and last year's Huetter Champion Cruickshank to nab the overall and the 250cc laurels. Ron Yamamoto controlled the Open Expert race after getting by Cruickshank, aboard the Dick's'Suzuki of Spokane RM500 and' took his first win of the night over Cruickshank and the pride of the panhandle - John "Mag Dog" Mattocks (Hon), winner of last week's Castle Rock TT Regional in the Junior main. Mattocks rode superbly in one of his few appearances at Huelter to snag a third ahead of Honda-mounted Jeff Seldon and Rusty Yamamoto (Mail. WITH THE REVOWTIONARY NEW Forknerdishes.ouf larger Hepler win WOLF· PAK By Brad & Sharon Jones HEPLER, KS, JULY 22 Steve Forkner, aboard his Nevada Cycles Suzuki, had no trouble with his competition in the 125cc Intermediate class. Forkner took both starts, putting several seconds on the pack in just a few turns. He took both motos way out in front. Terry McHenry, who took his Kawasaki to a second place finish, looked fast and stylish in moto one. In the second round, McHenry had trouble on the start and only managed a fourth. Jerrett Groff, who finished third in the first moto, had an excellent start in round two and finished second, behind Forkner. Roger Bellamy, one of the area's top 250cc Intermediate riders, took his class win without much trouble from second place Matt Murray. While Bellamy won start to finish in moto one, Murray got the holeshot in moto two. Bellamy got by Murray on the second lap and never looked back. The Beginner class had trouble with some of the rocker sections, with the exception of winner, Brian Talley. William Vandiver, who ran secondall day, could not get the rhythm down to get over the last rockers. Finally, near the end of moto two, Vandiver cleared the section, but Talley was too far gone for him to catch. Results • PEe weE: 1. Montee Hamsher; 2. RustyWilliams. MINI MINI: 1. Mike Hamsher; 2.
