the AMA's .1000 fine of dirt tracker Bubba Shobert for an altercation with Terry Poovey at the July
7, St. Louis Short Track National.
However, in their July 28 decision, the board reduced Poovey's
45-day, nine-event suspension to
just six events, including road races. 8eginning with the Hagerstown Half Mile (which Shobert
won, but now the win is credited
to Randy Goul and assuming that
there are no rain-outs, the Team
Honda rider would be eligible to
compete again starting with Sunday's Cicero Mile in the suburbs of

According to panner Terry Vance,
Hine was vacationing at the time he
fell ill and checked into the hospital
to determine the cause of the head
pain he wa suffering. On july 26
Hines was released from the hospital
and is presently recuperating at home_
Vance ays that when Byron has recovered, he will resume his vacation
and return to work in another three
to four weeks.

Cycle Guide magazine will
publish 10 regular issues and a
special edition each year instead
of 12 monthly issues. The new
freqoency will begin with a combined November-December 1984
Special issue on sale in mid-October.
According to Editor Larry Works,
the decision to change frequency came
after extensive research into reader
preferences and newsstand sales
curves_
"This magazine is the most reactive to its readers," Works said_ "We
know we're going to take a lot of
potshots from other publications, but
we know what we're doing.
"We are magazine professionals
and the (magazine) marketplace is
changing, Cycle has changed, Motorcyclist has changed, Cycle World has
a whole new staff and we believe it
will change. We're seeing lots of stuff
we began doing now showing up in
other peole's magazines. We anticipate we won't be the only magazine
with this frequency in the near future.
"We're willing to take the heat on
this," Works said. "We know the
reader is going to get a better eries of
