Randy Bird got things off to a fast start on tbe quick TT course but it was not without serious competition from Ross Klatt. Klatt got the nod off the green with Bobby Sanders in the second spot and Bird in third. After one lap mechanical problems forced Sanders to the sidelines and Bird found himself in second with Craig ~st~ong in tow. Klatt was riding a ught lme and as hard as he tried, Bird could not find the chink in the armor, but he let Klatt know he was back there. On the seventh lap Klatt went too hard into the switchback and lost it, giving tbe lead to Bird with three laps to go. By the time Klatt got himself sorted out the field had gone by and he had run out of time. Bird came up with the win with Armstrong second and Ron Bell third. On the Open Money half mile it was ~gain .Klatt. that got the jump off the lme with Brrd second and Curtis Cannon third. Cannon had smoked .-35 ...
