Special parts I am a subscriber. I would like to (it special parts like dohc head, lightened crankshaft, clutch and use the best bearings. Please tell me where I can get a guide, a directory of manufacturers o( these pans. GATTY PHlUPPU La Garde, France 13TH ANNUAL ....... ....... Greatest. period 10 reference to your article on Kenny Roberts' Daytona-dominating Yamaha OW69, John Ulrich said o( K.R. "Many believe him to be the greatest motorcycle road racer o( all time." Since 48% of Kenny's National wins, so far, are on din tracks, I would take Mr. Ulrich'sstatementonestepfurther and say Kenny Roberts is the greatest motorcycle racer o( all time. DAVE MERTZ Rockford, IL CAMEL PRO SERIES NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP JULY· 21, 22, 1984 LAGUNASECA RACEWAY Typo, USA I hate to seem too nit-picky, but isn't Wentzville in Missouri, not in Ohio as you stated in your coverage o( round two of the WERAIDunlop National Championship Endurance Road Race Series? Some type of recognition for twowheeled competition in the Show Me state would be welcome since Inspon saw fit to cancel the Supercross in Kansas City and the AMAIDragbike Mid-America Nationals had such a dismal professional turnout. Not living in California or back East, the Mid-America track is virtually the only place within a reasonable distance (four hours away for me) where fans can watch National competition. Needless to say,.it would be sorely missed if it were ever taken from us. JOHN BORGMEYER Kansas City, MO Rights for babies I'm glad to see Yamaha protect us against guys like John Ulrich. To make any two-stroke street bike louder is wrong in any state. 1£ these bikes were only (or the track, (ine, but these pipes are used on street-ridden only motorcycles. We have two young children. I don't like it at all when some rider pulls up between our car and another at a stop light. Two stroke or (our, a loud pipe is not legal for street use. They scare our baby! Babies have rights, too. Rights to clean air and quiet on the roadways. That's why we live in the desen. . We are looking (orward to seeing Mr. Ulrich in his polka dot leathers. It shouldn't be too hard to spot him. Every time we saw him at Willow Springs during the 24-hour, he was of( the track. MS. SEANA WESTLAND Lancaster, CA 1. A good way to avoid roadway noise, whatever the source, is to stay home with your babies; 2. John Ulrich rode four hours in the 24-hour race and the only time he had Team Hammer's winning bike off the track was when he was pushing it into the pits with a broken chain; 3. After publishing Leo Lake's letter, we were advised by Yamaha that Mr. Lake's opinioTJ was his own... Editor. (Continued to page,23) TICKET ORDER NO.
