Houde and Brian Juhnke engaged in a real dogfight, with the lead changing hands three times before Juhnke took the lead for good when Houde fell in a corner. But in the second moto Houde led from start to finish while Dave Henry was second and Juhnke third. In the 125cc Expert class, Houde, who rides for Riteways Spons of Winnepeg, was never really challenged, except during the second moto when he was knocked down in the first corner. Then it LOok him a lap and a half to get back into the lead. The Open cla s was clearly dominated by GF Cycle Shack-sponsored Juhnke, who won both motos. The Cash Dash was for any rider on any size of bike. Houde raced his 125 and got the holeshot, but was quickly challenged by Juhnke on his YZ490. On the second lap Juhnke attempted to pass in a tight corner, but slid out instead and he remounted in third, where he finished. Houde took the win with Henry second on a CR250. Spencer BRENTWOOD, CA, JUNE I George Hopper and Jerry Brandt kept the crowd enthralled in a very intense Open Pro show, with Brandt trying to get around Hopper's Honda while trying to stay out of his draft so he could see, "It seemed like every time I would get a chance LO pass, he could roost me and I'd lose the drive. It was very frustrating," said Brandt. Mike Lane had troubles with both Mike Collins in the Old Timer class and Jim Mahoney in his own Vet Masters, but survived the challenge. He got the holeshot in the second moLO and kept Mahoney's four-stroke Honda in the right position for the win. Terry Bostard continues to dominate Mini class racing, with Darren Gallagher topping Todd Hicks in the Intermediate portion while Jeff Becker was best in the combined Novice/Junior younger set. A big crowd will be even bigger once graduations are over. Jon King topped the combined I25cc Intermediate/Junior show, as a Junior rider with a pair of deuces while Intermediates Sean Lollar and Tyrone Earl each had a moLO win, but followed in the other rounds. Earl got the overall nod over Lollar in the Intermediates. Results so INTlEX: 1. Terry Booterd.lHan); 2. Darren Gallagher (yam); 3. Todd Hicks (Suz). 125INT/JR:1. Jon King (Han): 2.
