Keller clicks at Clarks Branch MX By Clay Light ROSEBURG, OR, MAY 13 When you're hot, your'e hot, such is the ca e of Rodney Kell r, who continue hi reign qf domination in outhern Oregon. Keller clobbered the 250cc Pro class at Clarks Branch Motocro going I-Ion the Yamaha-Honda of Ro eburg Pep i Cola Bouling Honda. Randy Tore on LOpped the Open Pro cia s, also going I-I, while Joe Spangler used a 3-1 tally LO get the overall in the I25cc Pro lass LO also continue a roll by the Eugene rider. Young Ryan Huffman i causing havoc in the Occ Junior and 60cc Intermediate rank. Huffman ran away with both of the 60cc class matos, beating Joie DePew and ChuckieStandeford. Ryan then came back to romp over a pack of 80ccJuniors, who were combined with the Intermediates. The Intermediates were led off by Monty Spaulding, a fast rider who ha controlled the area as of late, likely due to the lack of presence by Jeff Daily. Spaulding convincingly landed both motos to get the overall, beating Darren Clayton and Cory Waite, who reversed 2-3 scores to get second and third place brass. Huffman had a war with Phillip Escobar in motoone, which ended in early leader Escobar's nasty geto£f, giving Huffman a free and clear win. Mota two wa all Huffman's, giving hun a I-I overall win. Rick Smith a long time dominator of 125 and 250ec Pro cia e, recently started campaigning the Old Timer cla s, and caused many problems for rider who have controlled the cia , such as Charlie Standeford. Standeford was denied any auempts to take me lead away from mith' YZ250. Mel Sailing' KTM loomed in third both malO for third overall, but it was Smith winning hands down .. Another "long time" Clarks Branch rider on hand was none other than Randy Wing, holder of the southern Oregon #1 Plate in the mid to late 70' . Wing, who re ently came out of retirement, led the start of the first )25cc Pro mota, but was immediately dumped back a notch when Hondamoul1led tan Roberts slingshot past him into the lead, a lead that would hold for \he entire mota. Wing and Spangler fought it out for second and Wing finally go the nod, holding Spangler at bay {or the duration. Spangler came back wim a holeshot in mota two to led Wing and Roberts. Spangler scooted away while Wing and Roberts had a knock-down drag-out brawl, which resulted in a pile-up between the two. When the dust cleared, it was Wing in second and Roberts, the worse off of the two, in third, Keller literally pounded a fine field of 250/0pen Pro's on his CR250 Honda. The loamy, hilly course was much to Keller's liking, and he quickly £led away from a pack consisting of David Riemer (Yam), Toreson, Gary Bault (Han) and Rick Gunderson (Yam), Toreson moved through early traffic to chase Keller at a distance and nab the Open win, with considerabledistance between him and 250cc winner Keller. Mota two saw Riemer wow the specta tor for mree laps, with Keller fighting to take it away. Keller succeeded, and rode away in convincing style to again earn the 250cc win over hard-riding Riemer.
