"I haven't even walked on it yet:' seid Graham, "the doctor told me I shouldn't race, but I told him that I didn't need to walk on it to race a bike. " He was seen between races, elevating his foot on a stack of sprockets. Numerous riders were hitting the cones set up in the corners during practice at Sacramento. The purpose of the cones was to widen the groove for the night. A rider in front of Steve Morehead in practice hit one, getting it airborne. The unfortunate landing site for the projectile was Morehead's left hand. "It hit me hard enough to bend the handlebars," he said, while holding an ice pack on his swollen hand. HosPITal stop: George Quay, Teem Tamm'steem manager/mechanic, was admitted to a hospital in Corona, Califomia, April 2 when, according to owner Bob Tamm, "He was leaving the office, and on his way home while driving on the freeway his heart stopped. It started right back up, then it again stopped and started. After that George managed to drive to the hospital with a very erratic heartbeet. He was in intensive care for three days then was released two days "ter. It seems a lot of tension lately caused the scare, so doctors told him to take it easy for a while. At National Motorsports Association's World Mini Grand Prix at Saddleback, April ]4·15, Suzuki's Mike Healey and Yamaha's Eddie Hicks were some of the big winners. Healey topped both the 12+ 83cc Stock Expert and !05cc classes, while Hicks won the 12+ 83cc Modified Expert class. Honda's Mike Fisher also had a two for two days, winning both the 125cc Stock and 250cc Pro races. Robert Mason, on a Yamaha captured the 125cc Modified Pro win.
