bike into the favorite line. McG iJl,
riding gingerly on his repaired KX80,
took over first. Noel, Orth, HuslOn
and Griffith formed their own race as
McGill mastered the loamy track and
motored toa clean victory. Even with
constant pressure, the next four finished as they started. Taking first
overall went to Noel with his steady
1-2 score; jeff Orth took second place
brass going 2-3. On the last lap, Griffith ran out of gas, but pushed their
bike across the finish line for third
and fourth overall.
Finishing the day's racing was a
funfilled team race. Six of the Mini
riders and six 125cc aces paired up to
ride a 20-lap sprint with each team
switching riders each lap. Each of the
lOp four Mini riders took part tearning with one of the local Antelope
Valley riders.

Noel paired up with Tom McGill,
Orth with Huston and Griffith teamed
with Larry Turner. The I25cc riders
were jeff Mabery/Chris Cole; brothers Bambino and jody Tapis and the
Waddell/Gaasch duo. After the grueling 2o-Iapper was over, the 125cc
class won with Mabery/Cole taking
the checker, but the Mini team of
Noel and McGill were on the same
lap; taking the team £rophy for the
Minis. TheGriffithlTumer team took
a solid second in the Mini class and
fourth overall behind the secondplace 125cc tearn of the Tapia brothers.
