MX Fox Roost-D-Flector
By Kit Palmer
Chest protectors have come a
long way from the days when
foam and vinyl covered only a
rider's chest and front shoulder
areas. They were better than Callan
jerseys - but not much. It seemed
their ooly purpose was to keep the
from of your jersey clean or for a
placeforyourspon or's logs. Today,
most chest protecLOr have emerged
imo hest/shoulder/back protection,
are made of hard plastic and come in
a rainbow of colors. And keeping up
with L1ie "bird cage" trend is the new
Roost-D-Flector from MOLO-X Fox.
The Roost-D-FlecLOr is a fully
vemilated, suspended chest, shoulder
and back protecLOrdesigned for maximum upper body protection, and i
made from injection molded plastic
that guards a rider's fle h from flying
roost debris and unexpected soil
samples. Fox's Roost-D-Flector only
LOuches the rider in a few places, so in
a crash, the plastic flexes enough LO
spread the blow over a wide area LO
help absorb the impacl. We had more
than enough opponunity LO find out
that it really did seem LO work, and
the construction held up to the abuse.
The shoulder pieces are adjustable
and can b removed in seconds if
needed with a slip of a pin that connects the shoulder cups to the from
and back pan. Slipping the Roost-DFlecLOr on and off is as easy as cou Id
be expected with two elastic bands
that slide over your arms and two
quick-connect- release straps around
the waisl. The only problem witb fit
is when wearing a full coverage
helmet. because the nose piece of the
helmet will hit the LOp of the chest
protector when looking down atone's
feel. However, when riding, there is
no problem.
Overall, the Roost-D-FlecLOr is
comfortable LO wear because it doesn't
restrict movemem and is light and
cool. But, besl of all, they look stylish.
Color choice is limited LO yellow or
white bodies with blue, red or black
ouLlines (black only on yellow). and
come with rugged Fox decals. For
around $55. the Roo t-D-Flector is a
wonh-while investmenl. Look for
them at your local dealer or comaCl
