I've been trying to put together a solid program for the past three years. I really enjoy riding the championship rounds. The travel, the different languages, food and customs don't bother me because I've had a chance over the years to gain an insight into what you have to do to fit in and make things work. I won't be a newcomer. Knowing how to cope and get along makes the riding come so much easier because vou're not always worrying about' the little things. "Some people might say because I'll be 27 in September that I'm too old. I don't think so. I'm in very good shape and maturity and experience count for a lot. Granted, I'm six or seven years older than most of the riders who finished in the top 10 in last year's championships where Bernie Schreiber, at age 24, was the oldest. I train every day by riding a motocross bike to build up strength and stamina plus I practice a good bit also. In addition, I run four to five miles a day. I'm not doing weight training, but concentrate more on stretching my muscle and conditioning my body to be supple. "What should make my trip even more enjoyable is that a very nice young lady named Angela will be traveling with me. I plan on buying a car when I get to England and transporting my bike that way. After I pick up my bike at the Armstrong factory we'll be heading to Spai n for the opening round (March 4) and then, hopefully, be able to spend two or three days a week sightseeing on our way to each succeeding round.
