But not "Rompin' Robbie" Hadlock who looked fresh as a daisy while destroying his opposition in both the l25cc Expert and combined 25Occ/Open Expert classes. Except for one first lap claimed by John HalJahan, Hadlock kept his Carson Cycle Center Hondas way ahead every lap of every molO. Dogging Hadlock most of the way in the combined class was Open ·Expert Al McElroy (Hon) with a second overall position. Although the q>mbined scoring gave him only second-place money, he is credited with the Open Expert class win. Hadlock's chief 250cc rival, Jeff "Crazy" Cloutier, (Kaw) had rear-brake problems first molO; dropping him to fifth overall then. His secondmoLO second-place finish moved. Cloutier up to third combined/second 25Occ. Among the 125cc Experts, five 'shoes invaded from the north (Idaho) but none went home with gold. Flying W Leonard Hombarger (Kaw) made a brief chargeat Hadlock, holding second place during most of the first molO. Ultimately he tired and faded out of contention. Nevada's Kay family owned the 80cc Experts with Chad wirining and Gene second. (Brother Randy won the l25ccJuniorclass to booc) In the second molO, Chad (Kaw) and Gene (Hon) had a family feud going; dicing back and forth until Chad got in front where it count most, at the checkered flag.
