Papa just got word from the North Bay M.e. that fliers advertising 'the club's March 25 Sawmill Enduro carried the wrong address to send entries to. The correct address is P.O. Box C, Fulton, CA 95439, A recent conversation with Team Honda's MX manllger Dave Amold regarding Honda's meeting with InSport events during the 1984 motocross season, "We tried to convince InSport to reduce the number of Supercross races this year by three, but they declined. We're stuck in the middle of the InSport and AMA races, so we don't have much of a choice now but to ride all the indoor and outdoor events despite the heavy schedule." They will miss the AMA Supercross rounds at Talladega. Alabama. and San Jose. California, however. Simpson Sports' carbon-fiber helmets, introduced to the press near the end of 1983, are being recalled. Simpson explained that their resin supplier gave them a formula that takes eight weeks to cure, and while it passes Snell standards a few days after manufature, becomes too brittle. Simpson says, "We have resolved the problem and are now going through another certification process." Only a few hundred of the helmets were actually let out, and Simpson is asking for their return. The hot Husqvama duo of Dan Smith and Dan Ashcraft did it again. taking the overall win in the SCORE Parker 400, held February 4 in the deserts of California and Arizona. It was their fourth straight win in major off-road competition. ahhough it came at the expense of Honda riders Chuck Miller and Kevin Hopkins, whose bike expired on the final loop while in the lead. Second overall went to the Bill Boyer/Gary Jones Honda. and the Husky of Larry Roeseler and Kurt Pfeiffer overcame a nasty crash with the latter aboard for third overall. All three were on Openclass machines. Complete coverage next week. ' AMA Grand National Champion Ran<;ly Coss, who previews this year's Camel Pro Series dirt track Nationals and the competition for his title in a feature beginning on page 18, is looked upon by many as a very consistent finisher who doesn't win many ationals. Not true, according to the statistics.
