According to allendance figures released by the American MOLOrCyciist Association and the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co., the AMA's Camel Pro Series was the best attended dirt track racing series in America in 1983. Goodyear annually compiles attendance figure for the country' top auLO racing series. Among dirt track auLO racing series, the World of Outlaws sprint car circuit was LOpS in 1983 attendance, attracting ao average of 9041 fan LO 49 events nationwide. Second-ranked among automobile dirt track series was the United States AuLO Club Silver Crown Series, which drew an average of 7556 fans to nine events. Meanwhile, the Camel Pro Series played to 255,933 fans at 26 dirt track nationals, foran average of 9844. IU. . WELCOMES THE 1984 The Transatlantic Match Races, an annual road racing contest between racers from the U.S. and the United Kingdom, will again take place over Easter weekend, April 21-23, at England's Donnington Park. Negotiations for a very strong American team are underway. The organizers would like to have Freddie Spencer, Kenny Roberts.. Randy Mamola, Eddie Lawson, Mike Baldwin, Rich Schlachter and Wayne Rainey. Gene Church is the rider. and he will pilot "Lucifer's Hammer" in the 1984 Battle of the Twins series. Formula Two Road Racing Champjon Randy Renfrow will be going after the Formula One title after purchasing one of Team Honda's 1983 RS500s from Honda. Thecost of the bike was a reported $12,000 without spares. Renfrow has some sponsorship for next year with help coming from Burt Bigoney, Peter Brady/Bi Star, Kal-Gard, D and Arai, but would always welcome more. Renfrow can be contacted at 703/451-9330. Bob Tamm, the creator and owner of Team Tamm, also owned a $4 million business dealing in front end body parts for foreign cars. Tamm recently sold that business so he and his wife, Julie, could concentrate entirely on their racing efforts. The exact terms of the sale aren't clear, but the dollar amount must have been fairly healthy. With some of the money, Bob bought an oil company called Moto Pro Lubricants. Now it will be named Team Tamm Moto Pro Lubricants. Steve Corrigan, who wa with the Sports Promotion Department of the Miller BrewingCompany in Milwaukee for three and a half years and directly involved with Miller's motocross and Supercross support, has been promoted. He'll oow be an area manager based in San Mateo. California, although he'll carryon with some of his sport promotion duties for an unspecified period.
