A few days before the SaddJeback event was one of some importance, the first Minibike International, held on the Richmond Ramblers club grounds in northern California. Gary Semics won the 40-lap m;lin event, followed by Jim Pomeroy and Brad Lackey. The Polka Dots M.e. held their 18th Wi] eyville Hare Scrambles, and the overall win wem to MXer' Danny Turner on a 250 Penton. Finishing second overall, 23 minutes behind Turner, was Malcolm Smith on a Husqvarna. In a battle of future Superbike champions in an ACA road race at Riverside International Raceway, Hondamounted Wes Cooley bested the BMW of Reg Pridmore in the Open Senior GP class. Husky-mounted Dick Burleson zeroed the course to take the overall win at the season-ending Swamp Fox National Enduro, with Tom Penton taking second overall on a you-knowwhat.
