He wasn't done yet, as John Fuerst made his presence felt on the white-flag lap as he moved by Reed. Reed pulled out all the stops and got back by to take the second and leave Fuerst with the third. Richard Sweaney, although newly moved to the 250cc Amateur ranks, had settled in very nicely as he won the short track topping Melvin Cox and Don Ambrose, the Tr and half mile, where he topped Don Ambrose and RU'sty Gaita. Tommy Lynch was the big winner in the Minis as he won the short track, Tr and half mile. Matt Stouten berg and Lyle Dove were second and third respectively. Pearce and Green renewed their attack in round two, but this time, the finishing order was reversed and Green claimed the overall win. Kawasaki pilot Tommy Combs picked up third. Honda-mounted Pedro Macia posted a 2-) score in the 250cc Pro battled to edge KTM pilot Russell Campbell for the win as Gray Renko pushed his Suzuki to the third-place finishing position. Kawasaki ace Paul Denis further staked his claim as one of Saddleback's upcoming champions as he handled a strong field of 125cc Pro riders en route toa I-I win.
