Fifth overall showed Brett Duncan with top Amateur points with Rick Lee as top Novice. Jim Speigle took the first Beginner win. The over 40 class lined up for the start of the Seniors race and many familiar faces greeted each other with gestures of luck. The start showed Lynn McGraw out in front with a pack of experienced riders hot on his tracks. Gerald Lowell (Suz), Russ Robinson (Yam) and Lars Larsson were of the riders all challenging for the overall. McGraw's (25Occ) own experience paid off as he held all competitors 0(( for the checkered flag. Larsson (Open) moved up for second while Lowell dropped out. Robinson settled for third overall and top 200cc. As the Open bikes lined up Adams was back again (as if one win for the day isn't good enough). Only this time Adams did little fooling around as he put his Honda right out front in the first lap. Raymond Cates passed David Biddlecome for second in lap one. Biddlecome spent the rest of the race trying to get back past Cates, but Cates held him off. At the checkered, it was Adams with win number two for the day and Cates and Biddlecome in second and third. Richard Kastner took 0(( with the top Amateur honors while Ron Rich (Nov) and Brian Schmucker (Beg) also claimed firstsin the Open class for the day. Jay Stranger, the Lone Rider, took the early lead of the 200cc class race. Stranger led the victory-hungry pack which consisted of Randy Lowell, Rob Hall and Joe Padilla. As the race progressed, Duane Summers upgraded his position as he passed Padilla in lap two for fourth and then Hall in lap four for third. At this point. Stranger continued to lead the way and Lowell tried to hold onto second. During lap five Summers had placed himself right behind Stranger. Stranger continued to hold Summers 0(( in lap six, but as they rounded the last lap, Summers had aced Stranger for the checkered flag. Stranger fell back into second while Lowell followed in third, OCIRseason closes with Race of Desperation By Tom Corley IR VINE, CA, OCT. 27 The Orange County International Raceway lights were turned on for the last time this year for tonight was the final nighttime race of the season. Several daytime events are in the making but the dates have not been released. Along with the regularly scheduled races the employees took to the track to embarrass themselves in the Race of Desperation. And, for a change, those who usually play had to work as the racers hel ped to run this special race. Security attendant Mike Sexton took his Honda to the lead in the three-lap race to take the top award. Fortunately, he did get a pie in the face like Dan Jones received last year after his victory. Eleven workers lined up against the gate. Half of the field pulled their own bikes out of the garage while others borrowed machines from the racers. Two of the contestants were considered to be talented so they were handicapped. Both Dan Jones, last year's winner, and Andy'Ba'rtrr, 'a'f1ag' ,
