Rumors ran rampant this past weekend that Yoshimura R&D had signed both Graeme Crosby and Wes Cooley for their 1984 road racing effons. "That is not true," said Yoshimura spokesman Marcel Formey. "Theonly definite plans we have right now are to race at Daytona with Crosby. I doubt that he would want to race the entire Superbike series. We may make a bike available to Cooley, but right now he is currently looking for sponsors." In their national dealer meeting held recently in Las Vegas, Nevada, Yamaha Motor Corporation announced a $500,000 professional motocross contingency plan for 1984. While we have not seen the exact details, we're told that plan will pay Yamaha-mounted privateers who finish in the top 20 of a Supercross final, or in the top 15 at an outdoor National MX moto. Atlantic Ave. Other popular Harley-Davidson events will return, including the new model and accessories show, the March 10 poker run and the March II Harley Heaven activities. Garth Brow took the runner-up trophy on the night and Ronnie Jones placed third. Ricky Graham, in perhaps his last ride on a Harley-Davidson before switching over to the Honda team, failed to qualify for the main, then had problems in the trophy dash.
