While Team Ontario (Hon) won the final round of the WERA Endurance Road Racing Championship Series at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia, on November 12, Team Hammer finished third and won the championship. Gene Romero, manager of Honda's dirt track team, has announced that Honda has signed former Grand National Champion Ricky Graham and Texan Bubba Shobert for the '84 Camel Pro Series. "Both Ricky and Bubba have signed their contracts and we're waiting for Doug Chandler to do likewise. We feel the three will give us a very strong team for the '84 season. Ricky just missed winning his second title this year, Bubba finished the season in fourth place, and Doug won Rookie of the Year honors. "In addition, Romero announced that Honda has hired Rob Muzzy to serve as crew chief of the dirt tra.ck team's R&D section. Muzzy wrenched Kawasaki's Wayne Rainey to the '83 Superbike road racing title. Udo Gietl will oversee the dirt track team effort, adding those responsibilities to his road race team duties. AMA Director of Professional Competition Wayne Moulton said that he expected "hopefully, the last draft of the agreement to arri ve in my hands before the end of the day (November 14)."
