Wil)s owns the IDBA ET record at 7.40; Trellthe m ph at 197.36. The final run showed a 7.41/191.68 for Wills and a 7.98/195.22 for Trell. Wills got the win light. O'Brochta went inlO the Funny Bike round with a fairly comfortable 3OO-point lead, but after qualifying O'Brochta had George Bryce and number two points man Charles Israel right behind him. Gremlins and breakdown plagued the first elimination round and stayed around for round two as Craig Burns. broke to send Israel to the semi. Bryce !;Ook an earned bye while O'Brochta put Terry Kizer on the trailer. Bernard King outran Floyd Huntz toend e ession. The semi saw O'Brochta take his BHP/KMS/MTC/Mr. Turbo-sponred Kawasaki to the final with a 7.97/177.51 pass to Israel's 7.98/ 152.63. On the other side of the ladder, Bryce and his Star Cycle/Wiseco/Mr. urbo-sponsored Kawasaki were making quick work of King. The final was anti-climactic. O'Brochta lOok a solo run for the victory after Bryce couldn't show due to mechanical problems. Mike Bellucci must have found something in a dark corner of Bellucci Engineering as he hustled his way to top qualifier in the Pro Comp ranks and then worked his way through the eliminations and into the final. The semis in the 16-bike field pitted Bellucci against the HarleyDavidson of Sonny Michalowski with Bellucci coming out on top for his ticket to the final. Jeff Reel joined Bellucci after defeating Jim Dodich. Bellucci, on the Andrews Products/ Murry/MTC/M·R·E/KV Products/ On Any Sunday Kawasaki/Bellucci Engineering-sponsored Kawasaki, staged against Reel's Reel Performance/MC Specialists-sponsored Suzuki for the money. Bellucci's 8.54/ 151. 77 took the win against Reel's 8.66/146.88. The Super Eliminator class went tp the Chambers/Close/Poe/Johnson/Murphy-sponsored Kawasaki of Dan Zimmerman with a 9.26/117.99 pass to loser Floyd Huntz' 9.94/122.98 run on his Broadway Kawasaki/Fast by Gast-sponsored Kawasaki. Bob Totty took his Edwards Per(ormance Honda to a 10.08/116.61 run in the Competition Eliminator final lO post the victory. Larry Bertrand was runner-up at 10.61/122.28 on his Suzuki of Gretna/MTC/Cam Motion-spon ored Suzuki. 'elson Cameron won Combo Eliminator with a 12.07/103.68 ride on his Suburban Cycles Limited Yamaha off an 11.92 record. Roy Brooks was runner-up on an RB Racing Kawasaki. He red-lighted. The ET winner was David icoll, on a Harley- Davidson owned by Chris icoll, at an 11.36/97.19 on an 11.00 dial-in. Andy Millet, on a uzuki sponsored by Millet CycleslAdams Toyota, was second at 11.00/124.38 on a 10.50 dial-in. After a champagne pany hosted by Murdoch Racing Enterprises and K-awasaki, additional awards were presented, with Huntz taking the Number One plate in Super Eliminator. TOlly grabbed the Competition Eliminatorcrown with el Cameron taking the Combo Eliminator title. O'Brochta was honored as Professional Rider of the Year, with the Sportsman Rider of the Year award going to H untz. Bill Hahn was named Professional Mechanic of the year.
