Cipala Wins Brick Mine Motoclimb
T
he IRC Motoclimb
Super Series was
canceled for the 2020
season after three of the
four rounds were taken
off the schedule due to
the Covid-19 pandemic.
The one remaining round
was the Brick Mine,
located in Walhalla, North
Dakota, which played
out over the July 4-5
weekend. This was the
fifth year the Eagle Ridge
M.C. and Pembina Dirt
Riders hosted this event
at the 750-foot-long hill.
Even though no series
points were awarded, this
race was an exhibition
round and featured the
series format and rules.
The event started
off with the world's first
live motoBASE demo.
Bradley "Slums" O'Neal set up a
runway and ramp on top of the
hill, and rode off it fifth gear wide
open, then pulling a parachute
for himself and the bike. Bradley
and his CRF450R landed safely
exactly where they planned for
it to land, and the crowd was
amazed as nobody had ever wit-
nessed a stunt like this before.
Bradley also raced Motoclimb for
the first time, competing in the
450 Main and Open classes.
Hosting some heavy hit-
ters, the Brick Mine racing was
intense as usual. Logan Cipala,
the 2019 IRC Motoclimb Super
Series Champion, won the event
overall with 45 points by finish-
ing third in the Open class on his
Buell 1190 and winning the 450
Main final with his Husqvarna FC
450.
Austin Teyler finished only one
point behind by finishing second
in the Open class, riding his
Suzuki GSX-R1000 and losing to
Cipala in the 450 Main final.
Harold Waddell was also one
point behind Teyler after a big
Open-class win on his Suzuki
GSX-R 1340, the non-points 700
class, and finishing fourth in the
450 Main.
